Privateer Days Video Game Tournament - After Action Report

This past weekend was Privateer Days in Liverpool. It's the annual festival for Liverpool, the kind that every small town seems to have (Grand Falls has its Potato Festival). After the second Liverpool Electronic Entertainment Tournament, the Privateer Days folks came to me and asked me to organize a video game tournament during PD. So I did it and it went great!

We had two games people could compete in, free-for-all GoldenEye 007 death-match on the N64 and a 2 player team Super Smash Bros Brawl tournament on the Wii. A $10 registration fee covered prizes, broken down as follows:
GoldenEye 007
1st $75    2nd $50    3rd $25
Super Smash Bros Brawl
1st $100    2nd $50

Funny thing is, no one signed up for the GoldenEye Tournament, everyone choose Super Smash Bros Brawl! I was not expecting that, GoldenEye is a classic. Everyone had a good time, we had 6 teams compete for a total of 12 players. A modest turnout but everyone had a great time.

Team Grab Your Banana won second place

And Team Razzmatazz won first place

I would like to thank all players for participating and the Privateer Days folks for helping out. They made an awesome poster and provided an awesome location, the Legion. I hope to continue organizing these tournaments, especially working with Privateer Days in providing an extra venue.

Nobody signed-up for Goldeneye because they heard I was going to make it home for the tournament.

    Alec Trevelyan for the win!
