Top Movie Scenes

When it comes to media, I'm mainly a gamer and spend a lot of time enjoying various PC games. However I do try to enjoy films every now and then. Like video games, there are parts in movies that just stick with you, that give you goosebumps whenever you what them. I've made a small list showcasing some of my favourite movie scenes. Spoilers ahead so tread lightly!

Groundhog Day - I always found GD to be an under appreciated film. Most view it as a comedy, but I see it as a transformation of a man. A man who starts off selfish and self centred ends up alturalistic and giving. The scene where he tries to save the homeless man and fails, despite everything he does and the power he has, is the turning moment for the character and the movie.

Toy Story 3 - The climax of the third instalment of the Toy Story series is a dark one. In this scene, we see the loss of hope from the whole gang. The tension continued to increase to the lead up to this scene, and once we make it to the furnace, the audience is left almost exhausted, stressed from the whole ordeal. But it gets worse. The gang can't escape, throughout the hole movie, there's always been a way, but now they've reached a dead-end. Buzz is the first to realize and soon the rest follow. For a kids movie, having the main characters accept their coming death is pretty incredible. Sure the gang is saved but those three-eyed aliens, but I had completely forgot about them and I'm sure everyone else had too. The scene really surprised and touched me, I could only imagine how a child reacted to it.

UP - If you've read any review of UP, you'll have heard of how Pixar managed to cram a lifetime relationship into 5 minutes. In 5 minutes, we are introduced to Carl and Ellie, see them married, try and fail to have children, live and grow old together and finally see Ellie pass away. This scene always brings tears to my eyes.

The Incredibles - Okay, by now you're thinking 'there sure is a lot of Pixar films on the list.' Well, there's a reason why Pixar has become so popular with children and adults alike. This scene, taken from The Incredibles, is when Bob's family is heading to an island to find/rescue him. However the villain fires on them. It's an intense scene which is heightened by the cool (and fairly acurate) use of radio chatter. Goosebumps every time.

The Terminator - So, something I should mention about my family, my parents allowed us to watch violent movies when we were young. Robocop, Total Recall, The Terminator, Aliens, all the classics. It helps that my mom enjoys those kinds of movies. Anyway, our young impressionable minds were blown away when we say  The Terminator. This scene, the police station shoot-out, stuck out the most. The police are helpless against the cyborg and are mowed down mercilessly. For a young mind, it's a crazy concept. After The Terminator, not even police stations were safe!
The Terminator 2 - And of course, we have the Terminator sequel and its police shoot-out equivalent. The minigun scene is the pinnacle of gun fantasies and once again our young minds were blown away.

Men in Black - Finally, we have words of wisdom from Mr Jones. A person is smart, people are stupid. For the cynical, this speech is their slogan, their battle cry against a foolish and selfish world. I love this scene because I don't know if I agree with Mr Jones or not.

That's it for today folks! If you have any scene you would like share, please use the comment section bellow! Bonus points if you find a youtube video.
